The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a crop insurance scheme launched in 2016 that replaces all previous crop insurance schemes in India. The scheme aims to provide comprehensive insurance coverage to farmers against crop failure due to non-preventable natural risks.
PMFBY provides financial support to farmers suffering crop loss or damage arising out of unforeseen events and stabilizes the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming. It also encourages farmers to adopt innovative and modern agricultural practices.
